We put together some of our most popular wedding menu dishes, which were beautifully photographed by local photographer, Sara. The room at the new Hyatt on 16th street in Ocean City was decorated and presented beautifully by Barefoot Beach Bride.
It’s a wintry, stormy day here in Ocean City, Maryland, but this tasting board is HOT!
We chose some of the favorite menu items from our standard wedding menus listed on www.motherscateringcompany.com. Here is a quick rundown of these delicious little morsels that we tried with Encore Events by Angie Gillis, an amazing local wedding planner who boasts a reference list that could make even the most nervous brides sit back and prop their heels up.
We started by bringing out our locally crafted, reclaimed barn wood cutting board. We have a bunch of these babies, which are impressive for both upscale events and casual parties.
Our menu items included Maryland crab cakes with roasted garlic and avocado aioli. Mother’s Cantina participates in the Department of Natural Resources True Blue program, which means we only use Maryland crab meat. Not only are we supporting our local fishers, we are also ensuring that we have the freshest crab meat from our local waters, and we treat it carefully so that the local flavor shines through. You can check out the True Blue program here: https://seafood.maryland.gov/true-blue-maryland-crab-meat/
Our field green salad uses local Terrapin Farms lettuces, and is topped with fresh strawberries, candied walnuts, gorgonzola, and honey balsamic dressing.
A favorite from the Mother’s Catering Company Fiesta Menu (and a favorite at Mother’s Cantina), Fried Flounder tacos are served on a house made tortilla with fresh cabbage slaw, queso fresco, and a crispy fried slice of fresh jalapeno. These are a fun addition to any wedding menu, especially as contemporary and fusion menus are becoming wedding party favorites.
We also served our buttermilk biscuits. Chef Neely’s mother Faye was an accomplished Southern cook and caterer. These biscuits are a family recipe, passed down through generations from west Tennessee to Maryland. They are heavenly!
Beer can chicken is another crowd favorite. Mother’s uses local chicken, roasted with our house spices over a can of citrus ale, which creates the most tender, flavorful chicken. Our chefs slice the chicken to offer guests their favorite cuts of meat.
Mother’s Catering Company Macaroni and Cheese, pictured above, is a decedent take on the American classic. Using rich cheddar and creamy American cheeses mixed with sharp cheddar, Mother’s Mac and Cheese is often the dish that guests come back for seconds and thirds!
All of Mother’s desserts are made in house, and dessert stations can be modified to suite the guests pinterest dreams. Chocolate Churro Cheesecakes are a piece to the irresistible churro dessert station. Rich chocolate cheesecake is wrapped in fresh dough, fried, coated in cinnamon and sugar, and topped with hand-whipped espresso cream. As a station, vanilla and strawberry churro cheesecakes are served with chocolate and strawberry dipping sauces and fresh whipped cream. Yum!
